The process

Setting up and running a UK company from abroad, step by step

  1. Tell us about the company you want. Name, business activity, who the directors, shareholders and people with significant control will be. We check the name is available and flag anything Companies House is likely to query.
  2. Identity verification. Since November 2025, every new UK director and PSC must verify their identity with Companies House. We are a Companies House authorised agent, so we complete this for you remotely using your passport and a short video check. No UK visit is needed.
  3. We prepare and file the incorporation. Registered office at our London address, articles, PSC register and director appointments are prepared by us and filed electronically. Most companies are registered within one working day of verification completing.
  4. You receive the full company pack. Certificate of incorporation, share certificates, registers and your Companies House authentication code, delivered digitally wherever you are.
  5. Ongoing obligations are handled. Confirmation statements, register updates, director changes and statutory mail forwarding are covered by your monthly plan, with reminders well before every deadline.

Common questions

What overseas directors ask us before they start

Do I need to visit the UK to form or run a UK company?

No. There is no requirement for directors or shareholders to be UK residents or to visit the UK. Identity verification, signing and filings are all completed remotely, and we act as your registered office so statutory post is received and forwarded to you wherever you are.

What identification do I need as an overseas director?

A valid passport is enough in most cases. As a Companies House authorised agent we verify your identity with Companies House on your behalf using your passport plus a short recorded video check. Some nationalities need a certified proof of address as well; we tell you at the start if that applies to you.

How long does incorporation take from abroad?

Once identity verification is complete, electronic incorporation is usually confirmed within one working day. Verification itself depends on how quickly you complete the video check, so most clients are incorporated inside a week from first contact.

Does my home address appear on the public register?

Directors must give Companies House a residential address, but it is kept off the public register when a service address is used. We provide that service address, so the public record shows our London office for you, not your home.

What is the confirmation statement and why does it matter?

It is the annual snapshot every UK company must file confirming its directors, shareholders, PSCs and registered office. Missing it is a criminal offence for the directors and leads to the company being struck off. We prepare and file it for you each year as part of the company secretarial plan.

Do I need a UK bank account to have a UK company?

Legally no, but practically most trading companies want one. UK high-street banks rarely onboard non-resident directors remotely. Most overseas owners use Electronic Money Institution accounts, which onboard remotely and cover day-to-day needs; we can point you at the providers that regularly accept non-resident directors.
